Terre Haute, Ind. - Connecticut College's Michael LeDuc earned All-America status for the second time, coming in 13th on Saturday at the NCAA Div. III men's cross country championships.

LeDuc, a junior, finished in 24 minutes, 48 seconds. Tim Nelson of Wisconsin-Stout won in 24:26. LeDuc's finish was the highest in Conn's program history.

"Mike's tremendous race today was a culmination of hard work he started way back in the summer and maintained throughout the fall season,'' Conn coach Jim Butler said. "As his coach, I couldn't be happier and I am extremely proud of what Mike accomplished today.''

LeDuc was also a Div. III All-American in outdoor track in the spring, placing fourth in the 3,000-meter steeplechase.

Men's basketball

• Joshua Ford's basket with 3.3 seconds left lifted Mitchell College to a 78-76 win over Johnson State in the second day of the Mitchell College Showcase. Ford, named Most Outstanding Player, finished with 20 points and 12 rebounds. Alex Pires scored 20 points, Alex Del Rio had nine assists, Anthony Epps scored 18 and Joseph Pemberton had 10 rebounds for Mitchell (2-0). Pires joined Ford on the all-tournament team.

• David Anderson scored 17 of his career-high 24 points in the second half as Coast Guard Academy pulled away to beat Southern Vermont 68-57 in the consolation game of the Williams College Tip-Off tournament. Coast Guard (1-1) scored the final 13 points. Greg Marshall scored 20 and had seven rebounds, Anderson had 13 rebounds and Jimmy Knudsen had eight points and eight rebounds for CGA.

• Jared Shill scored 20 points to help lead Conn College to a 76-62 win over host Swarthmore at the Quinox Classic. Also scoring in double figures for Conn (1-1) were Matt Vadas (18), John Bullitt (12) and Aaron McBurnie (10). Bullitt was named to the all-tournament team.

• Duane Notice scored 21 and Gabe Levin had 20 points as St. Thomas More beat No. 3 Fishburne 85-76 in overtime at the National Prep Showcase in New Haven. Friday, Notice scored 20 and Levin scored 18 as T-More beat Fork Union Military Academy 71-56.

Women's basketball

• Jackie Riera scored 17 points to lead UConn-Avery Point to a 70-60 win over Massasoit. Kim Bouten and Ryanne Paige scored 12 points each, Mikayla Wells scored 11 and Haley Cooper had 10 points for Avery Point (4-2).

• Johnson & Wales outscored Coast Guard 14-5 in overtime and came away with a 62-53 win in its season opener. Dani Knox led Coast Guard (1-1) with nine points, seven rebounds and three steals.

• Connecticut College opened its season with a 58-47 loss to Endicott in the ECSU Tip-Off tournament. Carlee Smith had 10 points and five assists for Conn.

• Mitchell lost to Brandeis 89-45 at the Brandeis Invitational. Amanda Garcia scored 13 points to lead Mitchell (0-2).

Men's swimming

• Sophomore Christian Brindamour won three events as Coast Guard beat Providence 169-5-116.5 and WPI 191-105 to stretch its winning streak to five. Brindamour won the 50-meter freestyle in 21.49, the 100 freestyle in 48.18 and tied for first in the 100 backstroke at 55.55. Derrian Duryea and Marco Tinari also won two events each for Coast Guard.

• Conn College split a home tri-meet, beating Middlebury 179.5-99.5 but losing to Tufts 144-135. Sam Gill won a pair of events for the Camels, capturing the 100 freestyle (47.12 seconds) and 100 back (51.91). Bohdan Martin (1,000 freestyle, 10:06.33) and Dylan Steiner (200 breask, 2:14.54) also won events for the Camels.

Women's swimming

• Conn College opened its season by beating Tufts 160.5-118.5 and Middlebury 149-138. Julia Pielock and Esther Mehesz were double winners for the Camels. Pielock won the 50 freestyle (24.85) and 100 freestyle (54.22) and Mehesz won the 500 freestyle (5:14.35) and 1000 freestyle (10:38.36). Sam Pierce and Rachel Bohn also won events for Conn.

Women's hockey

• Conn College and Trinity played to a 1-1 tie in a New England Small College Athletic Conference game. Conn's Courtney Dumont scored with 4:39 left in the second half to tie the game. Amy Leichliter made 26 saves for Conn (0-1-1, 0-1-1).

Wrestling

• Coast Guard freshman Mike Shermot finished sixth in the 165-pound bracket in the 46th Annual East Stroudsburg Open. Shermot won his first two matches 7-4 and 8-7 before advancing on a medical decision in his third round. Shermot dropped his fourth match by pin fall, denying him the chance to wrestle in the final round. In the losers bracket, he dropped his only match 9-4.

Also, Coast Guard's Marc Wagner finished fifth at 174 at the Doug Parker Invitational in Springfield, Mass. Heavyweight Mark Howard was 3-2 and Dean Gilbert (174) was 2-2.
