NLPD close investigation into woman found dead under pier

New London – Detectives have closed the investigation into the accidental death of a woman found under a pier in June.

Katie Valvo, 29, of a last known address in Otis, Mass., died of a drug overdose, the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner said Tuesday. She was found June 20 under a Waterfront Park pier after someone reported the body at police headquarters.

Police initially investigated her whereabouts before her death but closed the case after the toxicity and post mortem analysis, police Deputy Chief Peter Reichard said Wednesday.
