Make a Difference: St. Vincent de Paul

WHO: Levi, a disabled War in Afghanistan veteran, his wife, Emily, and baby, Kate.

AGENCY: St. Vincent de Paul Place, 120 Cliff St., Norwich, a community meal site, food pantry and advocacy program that aims to assist the region's poor and homeless.

SITUATION: Levi and Emily live in Griswold. Their first child, Kate, was born in August with an incomplete digestive tract. She has less than 10 percent of the intestines needed. She has undergone five surgeries and remains in Connecticut Children's Medical Center. The parents are hoping to bring Kate home after the holidays, but their house needs electrical and plumbing services to make that happen. Emily had to quit her job in order to be with her daughter at the hospital.

WHAT TO GIVE: Seeking plumbers and electricians to assist in getting these services running and gas cards for getting to the hospital. Their 1995 Honda needs tires.

TO DONATE: Make checks payable to St. Vincent de Paul Place (write "Make a difference" in the memo), or contact Jillian Corbin at (860) 889-7374.
