SLRD Collecting Items for Care Packages

Picture from an Army.mil story. Read more about Camp Pratt at http://www.army.mil/article/84541/Soldiers_build_logistics_hub_in_northern_Afghanistan__call_it_home/

Shoreline Roller Derby is collecting items to send in care packages to Camp Pratt in Afghanistan. If you would like to contribute, drop off boxes will be placed at Mel’s Diner* and Transformations Salon* on December 7th. The boxes will be collected on Sunday, December 16th and sent out the following week.

    Suggested Items Include:

    Candy/cookies/baked goods

    Beef Jerky

    Hand/Foot warmers

Warm Black Socks (so they can be worn in uniform)

    Toiletries

Febreeze (or other non-aerosol air freshener)

Anything you would miss if you were in Afghanistan for a long period of time, baby wipes, good coffee, DVD’s and current magazines have also been suggested.

The 1034th Combat Support Sustainment Battalion also collects items for the kids in Afghanistan, any new or gently used winter hats, gloves, mittens or scarves for children in the area would be enormously appreciated.

If you are unable to contribute, you can also drop off store-bought or handmade cards as well. Thank you cards, Hanukkah, Christmas, Kwanzaa cards would all be wonderful. Basically anything to help those stationed in Afghanistan know that we appreciate them.

If you have any questions about this project or about Shoreline Roller Derby in general, email info@shorelinerollerderby.com or ask a question on their facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/shorelinerollerderby. If any money is donated it will go towards shipping and more care package items (unless otherwise noted).

In the meantime, SLRD has been getting their bouting schedule ready and can’t wait to bout both away and at home. Stay tuned and we’ll see you in April!
