    Make A Difference: WARM Center

WHO: Susan, 50, is disabled and lives with her daughter, 23, and grandson, 14 months.

AGENCY: WARM Center, 56 Spruce St., Westerly. The organization's mission is to provide care and service to the homeless and needy by providing affordable housing and supportive services and helping clients move toward independent living.

SITUATION: Susan has been disabled for years with chronic health problems, and her daughter has helped care for her since she was a child. They have been homeless and staying on friends' couches after fleeing domestic violence. The family recently was accepted into the WARM Center's housing program for the disabled, WARM Supportive Homes.

WHAT TO GIVE: They need household goods and furnishings, including dishes, pots and pans, a living room chair, a dresser, baby gates, lamps, a shower curtain, a TV table, a dish drainer and other necessities, such as diapers, size 5. Susan will have surgery in the near future and needs a twin bed and bedding.

The family also has no means of buying Christmas gifts, and donations would be gratefully accepted: Baby clothes, 18 months, shoes size 6 and educational toys; women's winter coat and hooded sweatshirt, medium or large; women's pajamas, extra large; toiletries.

TO DONATE: Call Jamie Silva at the WARM Center at (401) 596-9276 to arrange drop off of furniture or for more information.
