The town has issued a parking ban from 6 a.m. today through 8 a.m. Sunday on public streets. Overnight parking is permitted in town lots.Groton CityNew London

Parking will be prohibited on the following streets from 8 a.m. today until 6 p.m. Saturday: Thames Street from Broad Street to School Street; Slocomb Terrace; Beckwith Place; Latham Street (odd side only); Fort Street (odd side only).

In addition to legal parking spaces on unaffected streets, the City has made parking available at Groton Heights School, the Municipal Parking Lot at 2 Latham St., and Washington Park.

Residents are reminded that vehicles in violation of the parking ban may be ticketed and towed at the owner's expense. For more information, call (860) 445-2451.

A parking ban takes effect in New London at midnight. No parking is allowed on any downtown city streets, but free parking is available in the Water Street Garage.

In the rest of the city, residents must park on the even numbered side of the street. On streets with one-sided parking, follow posted signs.

Norwich

Parking bans will be in effect during the storm. Downtown residents may park in the covered levels of the Main Street Garage, Market Street Garage and/or the Norwich Transportation Center on Falls Avenue during the storm.Stonington

There is no parking on the top decks of any of these public parking garages during snowstorms. Vehicles without permits must be removed from the Main Street Garage and Market Street Garage by 7 a.m. Monday.

Public Works Director Barry Ellison estimated it could take city crews six to 12 hours to clear snow after the storm. Residents and plow contractors are reminded that it is illegal to blow, shovel, push, plow or otherwise deposit snow on a public street, he said.

Stonington Police Department reminds residents of the town snow ordinance that requires vehicles to be removed from the roadways to make way for plows when there is more than 2 inches of snow. A parking ban will be in effect by this afternoon and will remain in effect until after the storm passes and roads are plowed.

For residents in Stonington borough, when there is more than 2 inches of snow, Water Street must be clear of vehicles, and vehicles on Main Street and Elm Street must be parked only on the even side or odd side of the street, depending on whether the date is an odd or even day.
