Accidents reported throughout region

Police and emergency personnel reported accidents throughout the region Friday, including a tractor-trailer accident on Interstate 395 and a car that hit a pole in Ledyard.

Two people were taken to the hospital Friday after their pickup truck flipped over and hit a fire hydrant and utility pole.
After the 2:25 p.m. crash on Center Groton Road (Route 117), David E. Doucette, 65, and Betty J. Doucette, 63, both of 13 Marla Drive, were taken to the Lawrence + Memorial Hospital. Police said Betty Doucette suffered serious injuries.
Route 117 near the Groton town line was closed in both directions for about an hour, police said, as the Ledyard and Groton Fire Departments and Ledyard police responded to the scene.
Police said the crash remains under investigation but the roadway has reopened.
Tractor-trailer accident in Norwich
State police said a tractor-trailer truck was involved in an accident on Interstate 395 South between Exits 82 and 83 in Norwich around 1 p.m. Friday. The road remains open, police said.
Police said more information on the accident would be available later in the day.
