Ledyard – A 22-year-old Gales Ferry man was charged with drunken driving after his car struck and damaged a utility pole at the intersection of Christy Hill Road and Norman Drive early Tuesday, according to the Ledyard Police Department.

Christopher Hileman, 22, of Vinegar Hill Road, Gales Ferry, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs and failure to drive right.

Police received reports of a vehicle rollover at the intersection at about 3:19 a.m. Tuesday. The accident shut down Christy Hill Road while a utility pole was repaired, according to a statement from police.
