Become a CHR Foster Parent - Be a Part of Someone Else's Childhood Memories

When you become a Foster Parent you are not only becoming a part of their childhood memories, but they are becoming a part of your memories!

Family and Community Ties Foster Care Program

Community Health Resources’ (CHR) Family and Community Ties Foster Care (FCT) program is looking to place children in foster homes in Windham, New London and Middlesex counties.

Today, there are more than 7,000 children waiting in the Connecticut foster care system. There are only 2,500 foster homes currently available. Numerous children in the FCT program are living in group home settings because of the lack of foster homes. Additionally, many of these children have experienced abusive situations or have been neglected by family and, as a result, are no longer able to live in their birth homes.

Becoming a CHR foster parent is a rewarding experience. By opening your home and heart you grant a foster child the chance to experience a loving and nurturing home and a chance at a brighter future.

CHR provides 24/7 support to the families who participate in the Family and Community Ties Foster Care program, including:

•Mental health and case management services

    •Comprehensive training

•Round the clock therapeutic on call staffing

    •Generous tax free financial stipends

•Free medical coverage for all foster children in the program

Please contact CHR using the information below if you are interested in becoming a foster parent (full or part-time).
