    Police trace smell of marijuana to Norwich home, arrest occupant on drug charges

    Norwich – A 31-year-old city man was arrested Friday night on drug charges after police on patrol traced the smell of burning marijuana to the man’s School Street home.

    When police arrived at 89 School St. at around 9 p.m., the occupant of the apartment admitted to have been smoking marijuana and handed police a small amount of marijuana, police said. The occupant allowed police to search the apartment for any additional contraband.

    In addition to about 1 pound of marijuana, $3,200 in cash, packaging material and paraphernalia, police also seized a rifle and ammunition.

    Joshua B. True, of 89 School St., was charged with possession of more than 4 ounces of marijuana, possession of marijuana with intent to sell and possession of drug paraphernalia.

    True was held in lieu of a $2,500 bond and will be arraigned in Norwich Superior Court on April 4.
