Connecticut law prevents liquor sales on Monday
Hartford (AP) — Don't expect to find Connecticut package stores open on the Mondays after Christmas or New Year's Day this holiday season.
Because both holidays fall on Sundays, Consumer Protection Commissioner William Rubenstein is reminding consumers that no retail sales of liquor will be allowed on those two Sundays, as well as the following two Mondays — Dec. 26th and Jan. 2nd.
Grocery stores may be open those days, but they cannot sell beer. Also, restaurants, bars, cafes and casinos with food will be allowed to operate normally over both holiday weekends. They can serve until 2 a.m. on Christmas morning, and until 3 a.m. on New Year's Day morning.
An effort this year to repeal Connecticut's ban on Sunday liquor sales failed in the General Assembly.
