Police confiscate 4 pounds of marijuana, arrest two in Norwich
Norwich - City police seized nearly 4 pounds of marijuana, packaging material and a shotgun, and arrested two men Thursday on drug-related charges.
The arrests stem from a traffic stop made shortly before 1 p.m. on Hamilton Avenue. Inside the vehicle, police said, were marijuana packaged for street level sales and a garbage bag containing several dried marijuana plants.
Ralph O. Sidberry, 27, of 628 Lantern Hill Road, Apt. C, North Stonington, was charged with possession of marijuana and possession of marijuana with intent to sell. He also was charged with interfering with an officer after, police said, he ran from police but was captured after a short foot chase.
As part of the same investigation, police searched the home of 27-year-old Robert W. Wallace at 296 Hamilton Ave., Unit 24, Norwich. Police said they discovered almost four pounds of marijuana, digital scales, a heat sealer for packaging, a Mossberg 12-gauge shotgun with ammunition and more than $1,000 cash.
Wallace was charged with possession of marijuana, possession of over 1 kilogram of marijuana with intent to sell and operating a drug factory.
Sidberry was held in lieu of a $25,000 bond while Wallace's bond was set at $50,000. Both are scheduled to appear Friday in Norwich Superior Court.
