Bogus invoices are back.

Last June, the state Department of Consumer Protection investigated a company that sent invoices to government agencies, municipalities, schools, and businesses for technology maintenance services that were neither ordered nor provided. In September, the Department issued a cease and desist order, barring the company - UST-US Telecom - from doing business of any kind in Connecticut, and securing restitution for victims of its scam.

Now, a new UST invoice has been received in Danbury, and the Department said it was taking immediate interest. The department urged those who receive invoices to verify them with the person who authorized the purchase.
