    UPDATED: Waterford wins, Montville and Old Lyme lose in CIAC baseball semifinals

    Waterford advanced to the CIAC Class L state tournament final, while Montville's season came to an end in the Class M semifinals and Old Lyme was ousted in the Class S semifinals.

    No. 2 Waterford beat No. 11 Notre Dame-West Haven 2-0 and will play No. 4 New Canaan for the title Saturday at Palmer Field in Middletown at noon. Sophomore left-hander Justin Pandolfe pitched a six-hitter with four strikeouts for the win. Kyle Willoughby's RBI triple in the fifth inning and Seth Hoagland's RBI single in the sixth accounted for Waterford's runs.

    No. 10 Montville lost to No. 11 St. Joseph of Trumbull 7-3. Montville scored all of its runs in the fourth inning on RBI singles by Jordan Zeppieri, Andrew Fratoni and Stan Kesilewski. Montville committed five errors and hit into three doubleplays.

    No. 7 Old Lyme fell to No. 6 Oxford 3-2. Old Lyme rallied to score twice in the top of the seventh inning and left the tying run on third base.
