Lost in the "Tim Tebow to the Patriots" 24 hour news cycle was the great victory the Red Sox had in the early morning hours in St. Pete's against the Tampa Bay Rays. After the first 8 batters reached base in the 1st inning giving the Red Sox a 6-0 lead, the bats went cold along with the pitching allowing the Rays to tie the game at 6 in the bottom of the 8th. Then in extra innings the Red Sox get 2 in the 10th only to give 2 back pushing the game past midnight into Tuesday morning. The bat of Daniel Nava came through again in the 14th inning and Franklin Morales, who was supposed to pitch tonight, closed out on the game giving the Red Sox their AL leading 40th win of the season. It was a game that could have gone either way during several points and it was good to see Boston come away with the win.

We've seen a few of these games so far from the Red Sox during the 65 this season where the team was able to find a way to win. Shane Victorino tweeted after the game: "Great "TEAM" win...these are the kind of games you look back on and say we didn't let that one get away!" I couldn't agree more.

By the way, Daniel Nava is having a terrific season. His batting average is up to .300, his OPS is one of the best on the team and he has 42 RBI which is 3rd behind Ortiz and Napoli. I also heard last night Nava has the most RBI in baseball this season after the 7th inning which is impressive to say the least. He's been clutch at the plate and solid on the field and is continuing to prove John Farrell right as a productive everyday player.

All eyes are on Jon Lester tonight who's looking for his first win since May 15th. After the last two nights, the bullpen has been completely exhausted so a long performance from Lester would be welcome. The Red Sox have dominated Tampa Bay so far this season winning 6 of 7 against the Rays, we'll see if it continues tonight.
