Clinton Town Beach Opens June 22

CLINTON - Grab your bathing suit, towel, and sunscreen-the Clinton Town Beach officially opens on Saturday, June 22!

Residents can purchase passes from the gate keeper at the Town Beach at the foot of Waterside Lane between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. Passes are available weather-permitting on a daily basis.

One big change beach-goers will notice this year is the newly landscaped area around the revamped beach facilities.

"We had some volunteers do some beautiful landscaping around the new buildings," said Park & Recreation Program Director Lois Ruggiero. "The landscape work was done around the buildings, the restroom, and concession facilities, which will certainly make it more attractive down there."

Beach pass fees are $20 annually per vehicle for Clinton residents, $10 per vehicle for Clinton senior citizens, and $25 per visit for non-residents. Ruggiero said a lifeguard schedule will be made available for the public prior to opening day.

The Beach Building Committee last year oversaw planning and completion of a new beach facility, including new changing areas and bathrooms, outdoor showers, a food concession stand with a service counter, First Aid area, lifeguard area, and a storage area and mechanical room.

Those who haven't seen the new facility will have a great chance on on Saturday, July 20. Clinton Family Day comes to the beach from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Several family friendly activities will occur at the beach throughout the day, including games, arts and crafts, races, music, and face painting. Snacks and prizes will also be available. The annual event is free for children between the ages of four and 12 years old and their parents.
