Rhode Island man changing tire on I-95 charged with drunken driving
Groton - A Rhode Island man attempting to change a flat tire was charged with drunken driving early Thursday after police said he crashed into a highway sign on Interstate 95 and left the scene.
Sometime after 3 a.m., police said Travis Fraser, 25, of Woonsocket, R.I., struck a “construction ahead” sign in the area of Exit 89 and continued driving until he could go no further with the flat tire.
Fraser failed a field sobriety test administered where his pick-up had stopped, police said. In addition to driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, Fraser was charged with driving with a suspended R.I. license.
