Police standoff with man in Plainfield ends

Plainfield — A 34-year-old year Plainfield man was arrested Tuesday after he barricaded himself in his Cornell Road home and then engaged police in a five-hour standoff.

Zachary Truelson, of 155 Cornell Road, was charged with second-degree breach of peace. Police said more charges are expected.

In the standoff, police said at about 1:30 a.m. they received a 911 call from a woman saying she had an argument with Truelson and as she left the residence he fired a gun.

Members of the Plainfield Police Department arrived at the scene and secured the area. At that time, police attempted to contact Truelson via the cruiser public announcement system and siren without success and subsequently called state police at Troop D for additional assistance.

Police also requested help from the State Police Emergency Services Unit. Once on scene, ESU attempted to contact Truelson without success.

At about 6:30 a.m., police entered the residence and took Truelson into custody.

He is being held on a $25,000 bond pending his arraignment Wednesday at the Danielson Superior Court.
