Waterford 14s lose 6-5 in New England Babe Ruth title game
Westfield, Mass. — Drew Merrick’s RBI single with two outs in the bottom of the seventh inning gave Manchester (N.H.) a 6-5 victory over Waterford in the New England Babe Ruth baseball 14-year-old championship game Wednesday.
Manchester will represent New England in the Babe Ruth World Series in Moses Lake, Wash.
Waterford, the District 6 and Connecticut champions, trailed 5-2 before tying the game in the top of the sixth on a dramatic three-run homer by No. 9 hitter Cory Conderino.
