    Tree trimmer's injuries serious but not life-threatening

    Waterford — The man who cut his neck with a chain saw while working off Interstate 395 on Friday has “serious but non-life-threatening injuries,” according to a press release from state police.

    The incident, which occurred north of Exit 77 in Waterford, is being investigated by the state Department of Transportation and both the state and federal branches of the Occupational Safety and Health Administration.

    The unidentified worker was clearing trees and brush with a commercial-grade chain saw when it kicked back and cut him on the left side of the neck, according to the release.

    Officers from state police in the Troop E barracks, Montville Police Department and Montville Fire and EMS provided medical aid on the scene. The worker was flown to Hartford Hospital via Life Star.
