Norwich woman arrested twice for prostitution within 24 hours

    Beth Sikorski

Norwich — A Norwich woman was charged with prostitution for the second time in 24 hours during an early morning sting conducted in the Greeneville section of the city.

Beth Sikorski, 44, of last know address 88 Central Ave., was arrested Thursday after she was seen loitering in the area, trying to gain the attention of passing motorists.

Police said she made a deal to exchange sexual favors for money with an undercover police officer.

Police said on Friday Sikorski made a similar arrangement with another undercover police officer. She was arrested in the area of Boswell Avenue and Eleventh Street during a motor vehicle stop.

A short time later a second woman, Mariah Freehart, 20, of no certain address, was also charged with prostitution. Police said she also agreed to exchange money for sexual favors.

Both women are being held on a $10,000 bond, pending their arraignment today in Norwich Superior Court.

Police said they conducted the sting in an attempt to "clean up" the area and improve the quality of life for its residents and businesses.
