    New London police charge man with attempted burglary, criminal mischief

    In a photo submitted by the New London Police Department, Victor Rivera, 24, was charged Saturday, Aug. 17, 2013, with third-degree criminal mischief and third-degree attempted burglary.

    New London — Police arrested a man early Saturday morning for allegedly breaking into a car in the municipal parking lot off Eugene O’Neill Drive.

    Victor Rivera, 24, of 29 Golden St., Apt. G-5, was charged with third-degree criminal mischief and third-degree attempted burglary. He was also charged on two warrants for failure to pay infractions.

    Rivera was arrested about 1:30 Saturday morning after police found him rummaging through a car with a smashed out window in the parking lot near Pearl Street. The owner of the car was contacted and pressed charges, police said.

    Rivera is being held on bonds totally $1,853, according to police.
