Voluntown — A missing man was found Wednesday evening following an hours-long search in a remote section of Pachaug State Forest.

The missing man’s vehicle was located unoccupied by State Environmental Conservation Police in the state forest earlier in the evening, said State Department of Energy and Environmental Protection spokesman Dennis Schain.

State EnCon Police and members of the Voluntown Fire Department were called out to help state police in the search.

The DEEP reported at 10 p.m. that the man had been found and was being taken to The William W. Backus Hospital in Norwich. His condition was not immediately available.

Police at Troop E in Montville declined any comment, citing a pending investigation.
