Schooners, plein-air artists kick off Connecticut Schooner Festival
Mystic - Artist Jill Nichols of Shelton paused while painting the schooners docked across the Mystic River at Mystic Seaport Wednesday as the schooners arrived for the Connecticut Schooner Festival.
Schooners involved in the festival began to arrive at Mystic Seaport for the festival that will sail to New London on Friday. Nichols was joined by several other artists taking part in a plein-air painting juried competition being run by the Gallery at Firehouse Square in New London as part of the schooner festival.
The art show's opening will be at the gallery on Saturday night will all works being created during the festival.
