Landscaping at Malloy house leads to ethics charge
Stamford (AP) — A city employee faces discipline for using a city truck while doing a private landscaping job at Gov. Dannel P. Malloy's Stamford house.
City landscaping specialist Ron Markey faces a possible one-day suspension. Human resources director Emmet Hibson said Markey used a city truck for private landscaping at the $1 million house in August.
The Advocate of Stamford reports that Hibson concluded the landscaping did not violate city policies except when Markey asked a maintenance worker to retrieve his ladder from the house.
Markey used his personal equipment for the job and was paid by Malloy. But Hibson told Mayor Michael Pavia that using a city vehicle for private work violates Stamford's code of ethics.
The newspaper reported that Markey did not return a call for comment.
Malloy was Stamford mayor from 1995-2009.
