Police asking about drug that felled concert-goers
Middlebury (AP) — Police are looking for information about a new hallucinogenic drug after several people overdosed at an electronic dance music concert at Quassy Amusement Park.
The Republican-American reports that Richard Wildman, acting Middlebury police chief, said an unidentified 19-year-old man was set to be the last concert-goer released from the hospital late Monday. He suffered a heart condition after taking the drug, 2C-P.
Seven people were hospitalized Saturday night.
Wildman said four people fell down almost at the same time. Two had seizures and another concert-goer was not breathing and did not have a pulse.
Two officers administered CPR and used a defibrillator to restart his heart.
One person was charged with interfering with police.
Wildman said a database had little information on 2C-P, but police did more research through an Internet search.
