New London police union gives nod of approval to current officers
New London — Officers in the New London police union, AFSCME Local 724, will remain at their positions this year after their nominations went unopposed on Thursday.
President Todd Lynch, a former state police sergeant, will be joined again this year by Vice President David McElroy, Secretary Mike Strecker and Treasurer Roger Baker.
Lynch said the fact that officers were unopposed "shows solidarity and acceptance by the union membership of the direction we're going and what we've done."
Elections on multiple nominees for the five executive board positions and three trustee positions will take place on Oct. 29.
