Thieves make off with safe from New London ice cream shop
New London – Police say two thieves burglarized a Bank Street ice cream shop on Thursday night, making off with silver coins, credit cards and a safe that was bolted to the floor containing $600.
The theft occurred at Daniel’s Dairy Downtown, at 60 Bank St., and police said the two suspects were captured on surveillance video removing an air conditioning unit from a rear window to gain access to the shop.
The two thieves, one wearing a ski mask, appeared to know the store’s layout and the location of the items they wanted, according to a posting on the police department’s Facebook page. Surveillance footage was not immediately available.
