New London - A city man is facing illegal gun possession and numerous drug-related charges following his arrest Thursday during a visit to the man's home by police and state parole officers.

Police said detectives and narcotics division officers assisted parole officers in a routine home visit at 18 Town Hill Court, the home of 35-year-old Byron Wilson. Police said they found 100 grams of cocaine and crack cocaine, some of which was packaged for street sale, along with a .25 caliber handgun with an altered serial number. Police said they also seized $3,343 in cash and a small amount of marijuana.

Wilson was charged with two counts of possession of narcotics, two counts of possession of narcotics with intent to sell within 1,500 feet of a school or housing project, two counts of possession of narcotics with intent to sell, operating a drug factory, criminal possession of a firearm, altering or removing an identification number from a firearm and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Wilson was held in lieu of $125,000. Police said Wilson's brother, Charles Perry, was also taken into custody by parole officers.
