83-year-old Westerly woman drowns in river
Westerly - An 83-year-old Westerly woman drowned Sunday in the Pawcatuck River in the area of Margin Street.
About 8:25 a.m. police said they received a report of a body floating in the river. Police said they pulled out Giuseppa Ferraro, who was pronounced dead at the scene.
Ferraro’s body was taken to the Rhode Island Medical Examiner’s Office. Police said they are investigating the circumstances of her drowning, but do not suspect foul play.
