Groton - A hearing on one of two complaints filed by former superintendent Paul Kadri has been scheduled for Wednesday before the state’s Freedom of Information Commission.

Kadri filed complaints last spring with the Freedom of Information Commission and the Commission on Human Rights and Opportunities challenging decisions that preceded his firing. The hearing on the FOI complaint is open to the public and scheduled for 9:30 a.m. at the commission offices at 18-20 Trinity St., Hartford.

The FOI complaint, filed May 21 against the Groton Board of Education, argued that the meeting at which Kadri was placed on administrative leave last year was held illegally so the actions taken should be declared "null and void."

A separate complaint, filed April 8 with the state Commission on Human Rights and Opportunities, said Kadri suffers from a mental disorder that was a factor in the decision to terminate his employment, which therefore violates the Americans with Disabilities Act.

The school board fired Kadri on March 5 for alleged mistreatment of employees, 10 months after he was placed on leave.
