I think it is unconscionable that Norwich's new mayor, Deberey Hinchey, campaigned on a platform that she was going to be a full-time mayor. How can that be? The position is only budgeted as part-time. Does she want to be paid full time? It's nice that she has a retirement income from previous employment that will supplement the pay for the half-time position. Norwich taxpayers need to pay attention to the mayor's salary in the budget to make sure it stays within the budgeted amount.
