Stonington — A Westerly woman was killed this morning after police say the car she was driving crossed the centerline on Pequot Trail near Farmholme Road and struck a school bus heading in the opposite direction.

Sarah Delano, 26, of Granite Street was pronounced dead at the scene of the 7:19 a.m. crash which closed the road for five hours. No children were on the school bus which was driven by Jane Toth of Lester Avenue in Pawcatuck.

Police said Delano was driving east on Pequot Trail when she crossed the centerline and struck the westbound bus. Police and the state Department of Motor Vehicles Commercial Inspection Unit are investigating the crash.
