Stonington police arrest suspect in liquor store burglary
Stonington police arrested a Washington, D.C. man early Monday morning after patrol officers responding to an alarm at the A&P liquor store in Mystic found two suspects inside the store.
Delonte J. Stevenson, 21, was arrested and charged with third-degree burglary, first-degree criminal mischief, criminal attempt to commit fifth-degree larceny and possession of burglary tools. Stevenson is being held on $500,000 bond, Stonington police said.
Just after 3:15 a.m., officers responded to an alarm activation at the liquor store at 25 Broadway Ave. Police said Stevenson and another suspect had broken into the store. Stevenson was taken into custody at the scene, but the other suspect fled, police said. They did not provide a description of the second suspect.
Stonington detectives continue to investigate the break-in, police said.
