Ruth Crandall Mangan, 93, Ventura, California, formerly of Old Saybrook

Ruth Crandall Mangan, 93, of Ventura, California, formerly of Old Saybrook, wife of more than 69 years to Paul C. Mangan, died Dec. 27. Ruth was born in February 1920 in Providence, Rhode Island to the late Inez Jordan and Lester Crandall. She graduated from Rhode Island State College, now the University of Rhode Island, with the class of 1942, with a bachelor of science degree in foods and nutrition. 

Ruth lived in the North Cove area of Old Saybrook from 1971 until 2004, when she moved to California to be closer to her daughter. She was an active member of the First Church of Christ Congregational; a past treasurer of the Old Saybrook Historical Society, and a past president of the Old Saybrook Garden Club. Ruth was a very special lady, much loved by family, friends, and acquaintances, and will be dearly missed.

She is survived by her daughter Cindy and son-in-law Keith Lawrenz. She was predeceased by her son Robert, and her brother Robert.

Memorial services will be held for the family only.
