State police arrest 18 for drunken driving over New Year's holiday

State police arrested 18 for drunken driving during the New Year's holiday enforcement period that began midnight Monday and ended at 12:01 a.m. today.

Extra patrols and checkpoints were conducted during this timeframe. Police said they also investigated 84 accidents, 18 of which resulted in injury. There were no fatal accidents.

Police also ticketed 560 for speeding, 16 for seat belt violations and another 1,040 for other moving violations.
