Norwich man charged with sexual assault of young girl

Norwich – A 27-year-old Norwich man remains behind bars following his arrest this week on charges he bought alcohol for and had sex with a 14-year-old-girl.

Manno Joseph, with a last known address of 22 Peck St., was charged Monday with first-degree sexual assault, risk of injury to a minor and two counts of delivering alcohol to a minor.

Police say Joseph purchased alcohol for two teens and attended a party with others at a home on the west side of Norwich. Police said the alleged assault took place on July 21, after Joseph and others left the party to go to another home.

Norwich Police Juvenile Division Detective Damon Wallace had investigated the case and obtained a warrant for Joseph's arrest. Joseph remains held on a $100,000 bond and is due to appear in Norwich Superior Court on Feb. 10.

Police said more arrests are anticipated in connection with the sexual assault of the teen.
