Local college basketball: Mitchell men rout Wheelock 104-87

New London The Mitchell College men's basketball team scored 61 points in the second half to pull away from Wheelock College in a 104-87 victory Saturday in the New England Collegiate Conference.

The Mariners (15-4 overall, 11-1 NECC) shot 66 percent in the second half. Mitchell surpassed the school record for single season victories since becoming a member of Division III (14 wins in 2012-13).

Joshua Ford finished with 31 points, 12 rebounds and two blocks, while Parris Hill had 29 points, a game-high 13 rebounds and three blocks. Frank Martin added 16 points and Anthony Epps 12.

Anthony Williams scored a season-high 34 points on 13-for-20 shooting to lead Wheelock (1-17 overall, 0-10 NECC).

In other games:

• Matt Vadas finished with 27 points and five assists and Mason Lopez hit six 3-pointers to add 24 points as Conn College defeated Bates 84-77 in a NESCAC matchup. Zuri Pavlin had a game-high 20 rebounds to go with 10 points and Bo McKinley added nine points and seven assists for Conn (9-9, 2-4). The Camels led 43-25 at halftime. Mike Boorazian scored 39 points, 32 in the second half for Bates (10-9, 1-5).

Women's basketball

• Carlee Smith scored 17 points, connecting on 7 of 8 shots from the field to lead Connecticut College to a 64-56 victory against Bates. Caitlin Cimino finished with 12 points and eight rebounds for Conn (12-7, 4-2 NESCAC), Willa McKinley added 11 points off the bench and senior Tara Gabelman grabbed the 800th rebound of her career, finishing with nine points and 10 rebounds. Bates is 7-13, 0-6.

• Kate Mulloy had 12 points and 12 rebounds as Mitchell College extended its winning streak to 10 with a 59-46 win over Becker College in a NECC game. Diamond Thomas scored 13, Savannah Boyle had 12 points, Caycee Williams had 11 points and 10 rebounds and Toshina Jessamy had 12 rebounds for the Mariners (12-7, 12-1). Becker is 6-13, 6-7.
