Friday Night Folk's "Be Our Valentine"

Band dynamics are tough any time, and it can get infinitely more complicated if there happen to be a husband and wife in the same group.

Few folks know, for example, that the reason the Captain & Tennille are divorcing after 40 years together is because Toni Tennille - whose incredible prowess on guitar isn't well known - was adamant about joining Slayer as a replacement for the recently deceased Jeff Hanneman. The Captain told her, "Act your age, Tennille!"

    Just kidding.

Anyway, it's all marital bliss when the Friday Night Folk music series presents "Be Our Valentine" program. Two couples with impeccable local musical reputations will separately take the stage. Liz Larson (of the Liz Larsons) and her husband Dan Spurr (Can Kickers) will offer post-millennial front porch folk tunes. Also, Ben and Nancy Parent, who head up the Rivergods, will dip into their separate and collective catalogs including the brand new Rivergods EP, "Never Grow Old."
