Superintendent search committee to hold community meeting
New London — The committee tasked with conducting the search for the city’s next superintendent of schools will hold a community meeting Tuesday, Feb. 25 to gather input on the qualities parents and city residents desire in a new leader for the school system.
The meeting will be held at 7 p.m. in the Science and Technology Magnet High School lecture hall. The committee is also planning similar meetings with students, school staff and “selected stakeholders.”
Those who cannot attend the Feb. 25 meeting will be able to provide input via an online survey that will be available on the district’s website beginning Feb. 26.
The vacancy will be advertised and applications for the job will be accepted beginning Feb. 17. The Board of Education expects to select the new superintendent by May 1. The new superintendent will start working July 1.
To help keep the public up-to-date on the progress of the superintendent search, the Board of Education has created a webpage that includes an anticipated timeline, information on the search committee and status updates. For more information, visit www.newlondon.org.
