The state of Connecticut is offering a $25,000 reward for information leading to an arrest and conviction in the death of Kyle Seidel, a Waterford man who was shot to death in December 2012 while he was out picking up takeout food for his family.

The reward was authorized by Gov. Dannel P. Malloy at the request of Michael L. Regan, state’s attorney for the Judicial District of New London.

Seidel was fatally shot on Dec. 21, 2012, in the parking lot of Family Bowl on Boston Post Road in Waterford. Kyle, a 34-year-old husband and father of three, was on his way to the Lucky Inn Chinese restaurant to pick up takeout food at the time.

While the circumstances which led up to the shooting are as yet unknown, area residents are being asked to recall events they may have witnessed around 8 p.m. on the evening when Seidel was shot.

The case has been ruled a homicide. It is being investigated by the Waterford Police Department and the Southeastern Connecticut/New London County Cold Case Unit.
