UPDATED: Man facing home invasion charges arrested again in Norwich on drug charges

Norwich — A Bloomfield man already facing home invasion charges after he allegedly assaulted his ex-girlfriend last November was arrested early this morning on numerous narcotics charges.

Kendall O. Smith, 26, was charged with possession of heroin, possession of heroin with intent to sell, possession of crack cocaine, possession of crack cocaine with intent to sell, possession of less than a half ounce of marijuana and interfering with police.

Police said that Officer Michael Krodel was conducting a check of a suspicious vehicle within a residential of Norwich Avenue at about 2:52 a.m.

When Krodel approached the car, he saw Smith attempt to conceal narcotics. Police seized 70 bags of heroin, 7 grams of crack cocaine and a small amount of marijuana. They also seized his vehicle and $650.

Smith is being held on a $100,000, pending his arraignment today in Norwich Superior Court.

Smith was already out on a $100,000 bond after his November 2013 arrest when he allegedly broke into his ex-girlfriend's house and assaulted her.

In that case, he was charged with home invasion, two counts of risk of injury to a minor, third-degree assault, first-degree unlawful restraint, sixth-degree larceny, third-degree robbery and third-degree burglary.
