    Driver arrested after crashing into pole in Ledyard

    Ledyard -- Ledyard police charged a 22-year-old man with operating under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol, evading responsibility, failure to drive right, and operating a vehicle without a license following a single-car crash into a utility pole at 4:35 a.m. Monday at Washington Drive and Long Cove Road in Gales Ferry.

    Eric Grubbs, of 39 Ash Drive, Apt. 26, allegedly fled the scene of the crash and was found lying in a wooded area after a search was conducted by Connecticut State Police K9, according to Lt. Michael Finkelstein of the Ledyard Police Department.

    In addition to police, the Gales Ferry Fire Department also responded to the scene and damage to the telephone pole was being evaluated by CL&P.
