Bank Street reopens after fire crews clear scene of smoke investigation

A portion of Bank Street in New London was temporarily closed on Tuesday when firefighters responded to reports of smoke at Captain’s Pizza at 8 Bank St. Fire officials said wood at the edge of the hatchway leading to the basement was found to be smoldering. The fire was quickly doused with a fire extinguisher. The cause, suspected to be smoking material, remains under investigation.
