Child & Family Agency announces new CEO

New London - Child & Family Agency of Southeastern Connecticut today announced the retirement of Chief Executive Officer Thomas Gullotta, and welcomed the appointment of Chief Operating Officer Rick Calvert to the position beginning Jan. 1.

Gullotta has been head of the 41-year-old agency for 30 years.

"Child & Family Agency and the families we serve are fortunate to have Rick Calvert assuming the position of CEO after 30 years of stellar leadership by Tom Gullotta," Sally Crawford, chairwoman of Child & Family Agency's board of directors, said in a news release. "Rick's devotion to the agency and his love and respect for the families we serve is inspirational. The agency will thrive under his insightful leadership and our children and families will receive exceptional care and service."

Gullotta's tenure has been marked by growth in both the volume and variety of services that the organization provides to the children and families, the news release said.

"I've been blessed to have been a part of this remarkable organization for so many years," Gullotta said. "I am constantly amazed by the network of people who continue to support and advance the work we do for the region's children and their families. I know that the organization is in good hands with Rick and the rest of the Child and Family Agency team going forward."

Calvert has been an accredited, licensed social worker since 1978 and has been at Child & Family since 1984.

"I am truly honored by the board's faith and trust in me and am excited to work with them as well as our incredible staff of 175 and over 600 auxiliary members to continue the mission of this agency," Calvert said. "I am immensely proud of Child & Family Agency's deep respect for each and every child and family it serves. We have all seen that anyone's life can turn on a dime. This awareness reinforces our deep commitment to respect for clients, our belief in program models that have been proven effective over time, and strong community supports to ensure sustained family health and stability."
