    Animal remains discovered near Mitchell Woods in New London

    New London — Police said the remains of numerous animal carcasses were found Tuesday night in the wooded area between Mitchell Woods and the rear of 129 Gardner Ave.

    Police said they responded to the area after individuals walking in the woods found four large plastic bins. They called police and told them they saw animal parts in one of the bins.

    Officers at the scene said that the bins contained numerous trash bags with what appeared to be carcasses of different types of animals in various stages of decomposition.

    Animal Control also responded to the scene to assist with the investigation. The Animal Control officer identified some of the remains as those belonging to rodents, some type of reptile and ferrets.
