Power outage affected 5,000 customers restored in Westerly

Westerly – Power was knocked out to more than 5,000 National Grid customers in western Rhode Island on Friday due to a problem with an underground transmission line, according to a power company spokeswoman.
The power outage started at 5:37 p.m. and included traffic lights along Route 1 in Westerly. Power was fully restored to all customers by about 7:45 p.m. according to National Grid.
