To my friends, neighbors and fellow taxpayers, we have a chance to do something about a significant hike in our taxes before it's too late. The $53.3 million spending plan totaling a 6.4 percent increase is nothing more than reaching deeper into our pockets to pay for reckless current and past administrative spending.
We must attend a public hearing at Ledyard High School on Monday, April 21 at 7 p.m. to send a message to the Town Council that this budget must be significantly reduced. The town meeting will take place at 7 p.m. May 20, adjourning to the referendum May 21. You can take it to the bank that the public hearing and referendum will be well attended by the town's special interest groups. The budget being presented is not good for Ledyard.
