Montville road remains closed after accident

Montville – Fort Shantok Road remained closed this morning. Police closed the road Wednesday after a pole fell across the road when it was struck by a car at about 3:35 a.m.

Emergency officials said the crash occurred as roads became icy with sleet that had fallen overnight. No one was injured. The road is closed between Fort Shantok Extension near the Route 2A exit and Driscoll Drive.

A second accident occurred near 875 Old Colchester Road at about 4 a.m. Wednesday, resulting in minor injuries, officials said. The car struck a utility pole, but the road did not have to be closed.

According to Connecticut Light & Power, two customers were without power in Montville Wednesday morning.
