Fitch Parent Council hosts safe-driving speaker

The Fitch Parent Council is sponsoring a free presentation by Tim Hollister, a spokesperson for safer teen driving, at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, April 23. Hollister is the author of "Not So Fast: Parenting Your Teen through the Dangers of Driving," and publisher of "From Reid's Dad," a blog for parents of teen drivers.

Hollister's free presentation is open to parents in all communities. The program will provide information to parents of teen drivers to help prevent and minimize motor vehicle crashes and injury.

Hollister, of Bloomfield, became a spokesperson for safer teen driving after losing his 17-year-old son Reid in a car crash in 2006. He served on a Connecticut state task force that overhauled the state's teen driving laws.

Hollister's presentation is part of Safe Teen Driving Awareness Week at Fitch High School, scheduled to begin on April 21.
